For travelers building a Walt Disney World stay around EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the Disney Skyliner can be more than a fun ride: it can shape which resort feels most convenient. This complimentary gondola network links the two parks with Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort. It arrives at EPCOT through International Gateway, the park’s back entrance near the World Showcase, rather than the main entrance by the parking lot.
That makes a Skyliner hotel especially appealing if your itinerary leans toward these two parks. When you’re ready to plan Disney World tickets, factor transportation into the value calculation: an easy park return for a midday break can matter as much as a few minutes saved at rope drop.
Disney Skyliner routes at a glance
- Caribbean Beach Resort to Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Direct route.
- Caribbean Beach Resort to EPCOT International Gateway: Direct route, traveling through Disney’s Riviera Resort station.
- Riviera Resort to EPCOT International Gateway: Direct route.
- Riviera Resort to Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Transfer at Caribbean Beach Resort.
- Pop Century and Art of Animation to Caribbean Beach Resort: These two resorts share the same station area and connect to the Caribbean Beach hub.
- Pop Century and Art of Animation to either park: Transfer at Caribbean Beach Resort.
- EPCOT to Hollywood Studios: Transfer at Caribbean Beach Resort.
Caribbean Beach is the system’s practical hub, so it is the key transfer point for most routes. The stations are clearly signed, but it helps to remember the simple rule: Pop Century and Art of Animation guests change gondolas at Caribbean Beach; Riviera guests change there when heading to Hollywood Studios; and park-hoppers traveling between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios change there as well.
How early and late does the Skyliner run?
Disney does not post one permanent daily clock schedule for the Skyliner because operating times follow the park calendar. The current policy is for service to begin one hour before Early Theme Park Entry starts at EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, then continue until 90 minutes after either park closes. Check the My Disney Experience app and the transportation signs at your resort during your stay, especially if park hours change.
There is one important late-night exception. When EPCOT has Extended Evening Hours, Skyliner service ends one hour after the park closes. During that post-close period, the only route operating from EPCOT International Gateway is to Disney’s Riviera Resort; service to Caribbean Beach, Pop Century and Art of Animation is not available. Guests at those resorts should make alternate plans if they intend to stay through the end of Extended Evening Hours.
Also note the planned system refurbishment: Disney has announced that the Skyliner will be closed from January 24 through January 30, 2027, with complimentary bus transportation provided. Check current details before you go, as transportation operations and maintenance dates can change.
Which Skyliner resort is best?
Best all-around transportation pick: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. It is the strongest choice if fast, simple access to both parks is your priority. Its station is the hub, so guests have a direct ride to Hollywood Studios and a direct ride to EPCOT. The trade-off is that it is a large resort, and the walk from some room locations to the station can be meaningful. If Skyliner convenience is central to your trip, request a room location with that in mind, though requests are never guaranteed.
Planning Your Trip
Undercover Tourist is an authorized seller of Walt Disney World tickets, often at a discount off gate price.
Best for a deluxe-style EPCOT base: Disney’s Riviera Resort. Riviera has its own station and a direct ride into EPCOT’s International Gateway, making it especially handy for World Showcase dining, festivals and evening strolls. Hollywood Studios requires a Caribbean Beach transfer, but the resort remains an excellent fit for travelers who value refined accommodations and expect to spend more time at EPCOT.
Best value option: Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Pop Century gives value-resort guests Skyliner access to both parks, making it a popular balance of price and convenience. Just budget a little extra time for the required Caribbean Beach transfer. It is a smart choice for adults, couples and families who want to avoid relying on buses for their EPCOT and Hollywood Studios days.
Best for families needing more space: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Art of Animation uses the same shared station area as Pop Century and also requires the Caribbean Beach transfer for both parks. Its real advantage is accommodation style: the resort has family suites that can suit larger groups. For a party that needs the extra room, the transfer is often an easy compromise.
Useful boarding tips
Most strollers can roll directly into a gondola without being folded, a welcome perk for families at the beginning or end of a long park day. Keep a light layer or portable phone charger handy, since waits and routes can feel longer during rain, wind or a weather pause. The Skyliner is a terrific EPCOT and Hollywood Studios tool, but it does not serve Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs or the water parks, so expect to use buses or another transportation option for those destinations.
Practical takeaway: Choose Caribbean Beach for the most efficient two-park access, Riviera for the easiest EPCOT connection, and Pop Century or Art of Animation when Skyliner convenience needs to fit a value-minded stay. Then confirm that day’s hours in the app before you head out.
