Disney Cruise Line guests sailing aboard the Disney Fantasy can now find a Haunted Mansion-inspired dessert at Sweet on You: the Hatbox Ghost Cupcake from Cake Bake Shop.
The $14.95 chocolate cupcake has a small amount of filling, buttercream icing and a white-chocolate hat topper. It is served in a Cake Bake Shop-designed cardboard hat box exclusive to Disney Cruise Line, with purple wallpaper inside modeled after the eye-and-face pattern associated with the Haunted Mansion.
The Hatbox Ghost originated at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion and joined the Magic Kingdom version of the attraction at Walt Disney World in November 2023. The character is depicted with a top hat and cloak, with his head appearing inside the hat box he carries.
WDWNT, which sampled the dessert, described the chocolate cake as moist but said the cupcake was largely one-note and had more buttercream than needed. The outlet noted that the presentation and collectible-style box may be the bigger draw for Haunted Mansion fans.
