A female manatee that came ashore in Palm Beach on Saturday morning has returned safely to the ocean, according to authorities.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and West Palm Beach police responded after the animal was found out of the water. Officials at the scene said she had come onto the beach while trying to get away from male manatees attempting to mate with her.
FWC and police monitored the manatee while allowing her time to return to the water on her own. She eventually made her way off the beach and back into the ocean.
