Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is closed for its annual refurbishment, and recent aerial images show the normally wave-filled surf pool drained as work takes place.
The photos, shared by aerial photographer bioreconstruct on Oct. 12, show protective panels spanning the empty Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, allowing construction vehicles to move across its surface. They also show paneling and scaffolding near the deep end, in front of the dam-like structure that generates the pool’s waves.
The images do not confirm the full scope of the work or provide a reopening date. While the visible scaffolding may indicate maintenance or renovation at the wave-generating structure, that has not been confirmed by Disney.
Typhoon Lagoon closed in early September for its regular refurbishment. For guests planning a Disney water park visit during the closure, Blizzard Beach is open, according to the report.
