Every fall, Walt Disney World undergoes a remarkable seasonal makeover, but the magic doesn't happen on its own. Disney's Holiday Services team — nearly 80 cast members strong — is responsible for installing and later removing all the Halloween decorations across the resort, much of that work happening while guests are fast asleep.
A recent Disney Parks Blog post put a spotlight on the team and one of its longtime members, Jorge, who has been part of Holiday Services for a decade. Among his recent projects: the Halloween overlay at Jock Lindsay's Hangar Bar in Disney Springs, which received its spooky lighting treatment for only the second time this year. Jorge described the creative approach to the illuminated Halloween lettering as giving each letter its own personality — "almost as if it were wearing its own Halloween costume."
While many of the seasonal touches at parks like Magic Kingdom are beloved returning favorites, there are fresh additions this year as well. Guests heading to the newly updated Storybook Circus can spot brand-new Dumbo and Timothy Mouse pumpkin wreaths joining the décor.
Even as Halloween is in full swing, the Holiday Services team is already looking ahead — planning the transition to Christmas décor once November arrives and the jack-o'-lanterns come down. It's a near-constant cycle of transformation that keeps Walt Disney World feeling fresh and festive year-round.
