Uzbekistan’s Fergana region has joined the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, a West Palm Beach business organization, according to a statement from the Fergana regional administration reported by Trend.

The Fergana region’s Department of Investment, Industry and Trade became the first regional investment department in Uzbekistan to join the U.S. chamber following an Oct. 14 meeting in the United States. The meeting included Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches President Michael Zeff, Fergana department First Deputy Head Elyor Khakimov, regional governor’s adviser Bahromjon Djalilov and U.S. representative Abdukakhor Juraboev.

Fergana officials said the membership is intended to introduce the region’s investment opportunities to U.S. businesses, create direct contacts with American investors and companies, and support local businesses seeking to enter the U.S. market, expand exports and build international partnerships.

The move coincides with “Pearl of the Silk Road: The Living Heritage of Uzbekistan,” a cultural exhibition scheduled in West Palm Beach from Oct. 12 through Oct. 16 at the initiative of the Fergana regional administration. The exhibition is presenting Uzbek cultural heritage to American audiences alongside the region’s effort to develop business and investment connections with the United States.
