The Greater Orlando Sports Commission is looking ahead to two international sports events planned for Central Florida: the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship and the Olympic Q-Series in 2028.
The 2028 Q-Series will be the final qualification stop for four sports ahead of the LA28 Summer Olympic Games, according to the commission. Orlando Magazine reported the plans in a sponsored profile of the organization.
GO Sports, established in 1992, represents the City of Orlando as well as Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties and the state of Florida. The commission says it works across more than 80 Central Florida venues with professional, collegiate, amateur and youth sports organizations.
Over its history, the organization says the region has hosted events including NCAA championships, Olympic qualifiers, international soccer, WrestleMania, the Special Olympics USA Games, U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon and the FIFA Club World Cup. GO Sports describes sports events as a driver of visitation and an opportunity for families to combine tournaments with vacations in the Orlando area.
