Disneyland Paris's nighttime spectacular Disney Tales of Magic could be getting a familiar element back. According to recent reports, Disneyland Paris President Christophe Murphy — who took the helm of the resort in July 2026 — is pushing to permanently reintegrate drones into the show performed nightly at Disneyland Park.
The drones were originally part of Disney Tales of Magic when it debuted in January 2025, but were removed in April — months before Murphy's arrival. The show has faced a turbulent year overall: construction work around Sleeping Beauty Castle also forced the fountains out of the production, and summer heat restrictions in France limited pyrotechnics use, leaving projections to carry much of the show on their own.
Those pyrotechnic restrictions actually brought the drones back temporarily this summer as a stopgap measure. Now, reports suggest Murphy wants that return made permanent, potentially timed to the completion of the Sleeping Beauty Castle refurbishment or to Disneyland Paris's 35th anniversary celebrations in 2027. No official date has been set, and Disneyland Paris has not confirmed the plans.
The possible drone restoration is one piece of a much larger transformation underway at the resort. Walt Disney Studios Park is being reimagined as Disney Adventure World, with a Lion King-themed land and a revamped Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain — returning to its Jules Verne roots — among the coming additions. Disney has also made clear that drones, while increasingly prominent across its parks, are intended to complement traditional fireworks rather than replace them.
