Families in the St. Petersburg and Clearwater area have plenty to choose from this weekend, with six distinct events running August 21–23 across both cities.
The headliner may well be the Mega Night Market Asian Water Lanterns Summer Food & Music Festival at Coachman Park in Clearwater, which runs Friday through Sunday (August 21–23) with street food, live music, cultural performances, giant kites and — the real draw after dark — hundreds of glowing lanterns released onto the water. Saturday brings the beloved Saturday Morning Market back to 212 3rd St. N in downtown St. Pete from 9am to 1pm, with local vendors, breakfast bites and live music making it one of the easiest and most relaxed family outings around.
Young scientists should pencil in IGNITE! A Science Festival at Great Explorations Children's Museum on Saturday, August 22, from 10am to 2pm — and it's free. The hands-on STEAM event covers everything from robotics and rockets to bubbles and biology. That same afternoon, the Superstar Garage Sale at FloridaRAMA Impact Gallery (2606 Fairfield Ave. S, 2–6pm) pairs a Warhol-inspired indoor art market with the museum's Pop 4.0 exhibition, while the Women's Chess Club of St. Pete hosts a casual Chess Social at St. Pete Athletic (680 28th St. S, 3–5pm) open to players of all ages and skill levels.
Rounding out the weekend, K-POP WARRIORS lands at the historic Coliseum in St. Pete on Sunday, August 23, at 3pm, promising live music, choreography and plenty of energy for young fans.
