Walt Disney World has gotten its first colorful collectible medallions, and they're dropping anchor inside Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar — the gift shop attached to Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom. The new machine features a touch screen rather than the traditional button interface, a small but welcome upgrade for medallion hunters.
The set includes four designs, split between two golden and two silver coins. Mickey and Donald appear on the golden medallions, while Minnie and Goofy claim the silver ones. Every medallion shares a compass-inspired back design stamped with the Pirates of the Caribbean name alongside a skull, sword, and hook motif.
The front of each coin shows the beloved character dressed for swashbuckling adventure against a sepia-tone map background. Mickey swings from a rope in a tricorn hat and long coat; Minnie channels Captain Redd with a sword in hand; Donald sports a brown hat and blue shirt; and Goofy rocks a striped vest and bandanna. Each also features its own distinct pirate-themed border.
Pricing is straightforward: a single medallion runs $10, or you can snag all four for $35 including tax. Colorful medallions first appeared at Disneyland last year, making this Walt Disney World's debut of the format.
