Single Rider is Disney World’s no-cost, no-reservation way to fill otherwise empty seats on select attractions. It can be a smart time saver for solo visitors, teens and adults in a larger group, or anyone happy to trade sitting together for a potentially shorter wait. But it is not an express lane: Disney does not post a separate wait time, immediate boarding is not promised, and the line can close or move slowly when there are few open seats to fill.
The important mindset is right in the name. A party may enter the Single Rider queue together, but Cast Members separate everyone near loading and place each person wherever an empty seat is needed. Do not expect to choose a row, ride vehicle or seat—or to be paired with your travel companions.
Every Disney World ride with Single Rider in 2026
Disney World currently lists five participating attractions, all at EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios:
- EPCOT: Test Track and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
There are currently no listed Single Rider attractions at Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Animal Kingdom. That includes Expedition Everest, whose Single Rider option ended on September 21, 2026. Participation can change, so look for entrance signage or ask a Cast Member on the day of your visit.
How the line actually works
Head to the attraction and follow the Single Rider sign or a Cast Member’s directions. Everyone using the line must meet that ride’s boarding requirements, including its height requirement. From there, you wait in a separate queue until the loading team needs one person to complete a vehicle already being filled from standby or Lightning Lane.
That last part explains both the advantage and the catch. A group of three might leave one open seat in a row; a family of five can create another awkward gap. Single Riders help fill those spots so ride vehicles depart full. Your party can be broken apart immediately, placed in different rows or vehicles, and exit at different moments.
Single Rider is therefore a poor fit when riding together is the point: a child needs a familiar adult beside them, someone needs a particular seat, or you are celebrating a first ride and want to share every reaction. It is also not the right tool for Rider Switch. Families with a non-rider who needs to remain with a child or another guest should speak with a Cast Member about Rider Switch instead.

When Single Rider is most likely to save time
Use it when the regular standby wait is substantial and your group is genuinely fine separating. Check the My Disney Experience app’s standby estimate before committing; that is the practical benchmark, because there is no published Single Rider wait. If standby is only 10 or 15 minutes, staying together is usually the better value.
- Test Track: Often the clearest Single Rider choice when standby is long. If your goal is simply to ride rather than coordinate seats with friends, the trade-off is easy.
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: Worth considering during busy World Showcase afternoons, especially for repeat riders. Skip it if sharing the family-friendly ride moment matters more than shaving time.
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run: A good option for a repeat ride or for guests who mainly want a faster turn. Each cockpit has six crew positions, so going through standby first is the better choice if your group wants to experience the mission together and talk through the roles.
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance: A strong possibility when standby is high and you have already experienced the attraction together. First-timers who enjoy detailed themed queues may prefer the regular route.
- Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets: Try it when standby is lengthy, but keep expectations modest. Because it depends entirely on open seats, this one can be less predictably speedy than guests expect.
What Single Rider does not guarantee
You are not buying Lightning Lane access, and there is no fee or advance booking. You also cannot count on a preferred role at Smugglers Run, a particular side of a ride vehicle, accessible or special seating requests, or even the line being open when you arrive. Disney specifically notes that attraction participation and waits vary.
For groups building a park day around the biggest attractions, consider whether splitting up on one or two rides helps preserve time for shared experiences elsewhere. You can also plan Disney World tickets before the trip, then use Single Rider as a flexible same-day tool rather than the foundation of the itinerary.
Practical takeaway: Think of Single Rider as a seat-filling shortcut, not a togetherness shortcut. If the standby wait is high and nobody minds riding separately, it can be a very useful move; if sitting together matters, join standby or use another option and enjoy the ride as a group.
