If you have a Walt Disney World trip on the calendar this week, the weather deserves your full attention. A heat advisory is in effect for Orlando and the surrounding area, running from 10 AM to 8 PM — essentially the entire length of a park day. While actual air temperatures will sit in the mid-to-upper 90s, the heat index is expected to push the feel to somewhere between 108 and 112 degrees Fahrenheit.
The most intense stretch of the day will be roughly 2 PM to 5 PM, making that window the ideal time to step away from the parks, whether that means heading back to your resort, cooling off at the pool, or ducking into an air-conditioned indoor attraction or quick-service restaurant. The heat risk doesn't let up as the week goes on — Central Florida is forecast to stay in the 90s with moderate to major heat risk through the end of the week.
Rain is also in the forecast all week. Chances start around 30% and climb to 60% Tuesday through Thursday before easing slightly to 50% on Friday. Most storms are expected in the afternoon and evening, which is another good reason to tackle outdoor rides and attractions early in the morning when it's slightly cooler and drier.
Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can catch even seasoned outdoor enthusiasts off guard at this level of intensity. Staying ahead of the heat means drinking water and electrolytes consistently — more than you think you need — eating regularly throughout the day, seeking shade whenever possible, and paying attention to how you and the people around you are feeling. Taking a deliberate midday break can genuinely be the difference between a great trip and a miserable one.
