Families sailing on Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy may find a familiar feature of the ships’ toddler splash area unavailable. Passengers have reported that the Mr. Ray-themed slide at Nemo’s Reef has been inaccessible since about April or May 2026.
Nemo’s Reef is a Finding Nemo-themed splash playground for children ages 4 and younger, with water features and character-themed décor. The reports concern the Mr. Ray slide, not the entire playground.
Guest posts on Facebook and Reddit describe the slide as blocked off on both ships. One passenger wrote that a crew member said the slide was being removed rather than repaired. Disney Cruise Line has not publicly confirmed that account, announced a permanent closure or identified a replacement.
Recent passenger reports also say the extended lower portion of the slide has been removed from the Disney Dream. The Mr. Ray figure, coral décor and staircase were reportedly still in place but inaccessible. It is unclear whether similar removal work has begun on the Disney Fantasy.
Disney Cruise Line’s Nemo’s Reef webpage continues to list the children’s play area, though it does not specifically mention or show the Mr. Ray slide. Neither ship has an upcoming scheduled dry dock cited in the reports for a larger reconstruction.

Some guests have wondered whether safety concerns played a role, but there is no confirmed connection. A child suffered a broken femur in Nemo’s Reef aboard the Disney Dream in late 2025; his mother later said a coral structure involved in the fall was removed and sections of flooring were replaced. She said the injury did not occur on the Mr. Ray slide, which was still operating when her family returned in March 2026.
Until Disney Cruise Line provides an official update, the slide’s permanent status remains unconfirmed. Parents planning for toddler-friendly water play can still expect Nemo’s Reef to be offered, but should be aware that passenger reports indicate its slide feature may not be available.
