Disney Cruise Line is adding an entirely new class of vessel to its growing fleet, and the first details emerged during the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim on August 15, 2026. Claire Weiss took the stage alongside host Neil Patrick Harris to share what guests can expect from the three new ships.
The defining characteristic of this new class is its size: it will sit squarely between Disney's classic ships — the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder — and the newer Wish-class vessels like the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. Weiss described the positioning as sitting "right in the middle of our classic ships and our newer ones," noting that the intermediate size opens up destinations and audiences that Disney Cruise Line hasn't been able to reach before.
That flexibility is central to the strategy. A ship that can sail into ports too shallow or constrained for the larger Wish-class vessels but still offers more capacity and amenities than the original duo gives Disney considerably more room to craft itineraries around the globe. Specific ports, routes, and onboard experiences have not yet been announced, with Disney promising additional details at a later date.
The new class is part of Disney's accelerated plan to grow its fleet to 13 ships by 2030. Also revealed at D23 was new detail about the upcoming Disney Believe, including the character theme for its Grand Hall and the design of its stern filigree. Separately, the Oriental Land Company is developing a Wish-class ship for Disney Cruise Line Japan, which will sail from Japan when it launches.
