Disney Cruise Line gave fans their first real look at its next generation of ships during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in California, sharing a rendering via Instagram of a sleek new vessel class set to join the fleet in 2029 and 2030.
The unnamed new class will include three ships, each weighing in at 105,000 gross tons. That puts them squarely in the middle of Disney's lineup — larger than the 2,713-passenger Disney Wonder but smaller than the 4,000-passenger Disney Wish. Design details include a lightweight construction aimed at improving energy efficiency, along with the brand's recognizable black and gold hull and twin funnels. All three ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.
The reveal comes as Disney continues a broad fleet expansion that, under updated plans, will now wrap up by 2030 rather than the previously announced 2031. Before the new class arrives, Disney Cruise Line will first welcome the Disney Believe — a 140,000-ton Wish-class sister ship scheduled to enter service in 2027, joining the Disney Wish (2022), Disney Treasure (2024), and Disney Destiny (2025).
Fan reaction online was enthusiastic, with commenters on Instagram voicing hopes that the new, smaller ships might open up sailings from ports like New York, Galveston, and European homeports — destinations that larger vessels sometimes can't easily access. Design wishers chimed in too, with some calling for Art Deco and Art Nouveau interiors.
