Walt Disney World has reportedly added Cast Member admission blockout dates for Disney’s Animal Kingdom from December 20 through December 31, 2026, covering the heart of the Christmas and New Year’s travel period.
The restriction applies to eligible employees using their regular theme-park admission privileges outside work hours. It does not mean Animal Kingdom will be closed to regular guests or that public admission has been suspended.
Disney commonly limits Cast Member self-admission when it expects especially high attendance, particularly around major holidays. The late-December dates coincide with school breaks and one of Central Florida’s busiest periods for theme-park travel.
According to the report, the Animal Kingdom blockout is notable because the park has generally been an easier option for Cast Members to visit during the holiday season than Magic Kingdom, EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Undercover Tourist is an authorized seller of Walt Disney World tickets, often at a discount off gate price.
Animal Kingdom is also in the midst of its Tropical Americas transformation, which will replace the former DinoLand U.S.A. area with Pueblo Esperanza. Disney has announced that the project will include an Indiana Jones attraction in the former DINOSAUR ride building, an Encanto-themed attraction and El Carrusel de los Animalitos. The expansion has been associated with a 2027 opening timeline, but Disney has not announced a December opening, preview or other connection between the construction project and the reported blockout dates.
The park’s established holiday offerings include seasonal décor, the Merry Menagerie on Discovery Island and holiday details in Pandora – The World of Avatar. Disney has not announced any new Christmas entertainment tied to the December 20-31 period.
