Guests planning to visit Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will need to wait longer than expected. Disney has extended the outdoor lounge’s refurbishment closure through mid-December 2026.
The location had previously been expected to reopen in late October, making the revised timeline about seven weeks longer. Disney has not announced a specific reopening date, so travelers with mid-December visits should check the lounge’s status before making plans.
The closure is tied to refurbishment work at the Great Ceremonial House, according to Disney. The broader project at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows is expected to continue through early 2027, and Disney has said some views of the theme parks and surrounding areas could be affected during construction.
Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is the resort’s outdoor lounge, offering a more casual alternative to the indoor Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto. Grog Grotto remains open, though seating can be limited and waits may be possible during busy periods.

Disney has indicated that most restaurants, pools and other resort amenities will remain available during the work. The extension means, however, that Thanksgiving visitors and guests arriving during the early weeks of Disney World’s holiday season will not have access to the Tiki Terrace.
