The Orlando Sentinel’s 150th-anniversary event series will turn to Central Florida’s farm-to-table food community on Nov. 11 with a panel at the Emeril Lagasse Foundation Kitchen House and Culinary Garden in Orlando’s College Park neighborhood.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the panel beginning at 6 p.m. A question-and-answer session will follow, and guests will receive light bites. The venue is at 26 E. King St.
Tickets cost $12, and seating is limited, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The discussion will be moderated by Sentinel multimedia food reporter Amy Drew Thompson. Chef Kevin Fonzo of La Tavola will introduce the program and discuss the Kitchen House’s history and mission.
The panelists are Mike Garcia of Orlando’s Everoak Farm; Bernadette Girvin of 4 Girvins Farm in Tavares; Leah Cordova, chef at Orlando’s Quicksand Bar à Vin; and Bruno Fonseca, executive chef of Foreigner Restaurant in Orlando and Bruno’s Oysters at Plant Street Market in Winter Garden.
Garcia’s Everoak Farm focuses on regenerative agriculture, including market gardening, agroforestry, pasture-raised poultry and composting. 4 Girvins Farm produces pasture-raised eggs, poultry and pork, along with a small market garden. Cordova and Fonseca both incorporate local ingredients into their work, according to the Sentinel.
