Two newly opened Disney World lounge experiences are getting sharply different takes from fans, with comments ranging from enthusiasm for the food and drinks to criticism of the concepts and added alcohol offerings.

At Disney’s BoardWalk, Hurly-Burly opened Oct. 1 and operates from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. The venue is described as a family-friendly lounge with host-led trivia and games during the day, then a 21-and-up space with live music at night. Its menu includes coastal-inspired cocktails and dishes drawing on Italian American favorites and boardwalk bites.

Some commenters responding to Disney Food Blog posts said the new venue feels generic or falls short as a successor to Jellyrolls, which previously occupied the space. Others praised the setting, small bites and nonalcoholic drink options, with one commenter calling it a good fit for the BoardWalk.

At Magic Kingdom, the Old West-themed Diamond Horseshoe in Liberty Square is currently operating as a limited-time pop-up with small bites and drinks. Reactions there included criticism from commenters concerned about more alcoholic options in the parks, while others said they were interested in menu items such as a dirty soda, tostadas and a chipotle chicken tostada.

The two openings give visitors new places to stop for drinks and snacks, but the response shows Disney fans are weighing the concepts as closely as the menus.
