Drivers heading into the Magic Kingdom resort area at Walt Disney World will encounter a new road configuration starting August 10, 2026. That's when traffic is scheduled to move onto a newly constructed stretch of Floridian Way — the road serving Magic Kingdom, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Access to the Grand Floridian, Disney's Wedding Pavilion, and Island Tower will be maintained via temporary connector driveways built specifically to bridge the gap while permanent roundabout connections are completed. Guests approaching those destinations should expect approaches to look and function differently than they have in the past, even as the destinations themselves remain open. A separate permanent change — the closure of the Seven Seas Drive connection to Floridian Way — took effect July 13.
The broader World Drive North project has already slipped roughly 15 months behind schedule. CFTOD documents show the contractual completion date moved from September 30, 2026, to December 21, 2027, following funding constraints, utility complications, added scope, and nearby resort development. Guests driving through the area between now and late 2027 should follow posted signage rather than relying on GPS apps or a memorized route, as the configuration is expected to keep evolving.
