After more than three months dark, Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney's Yacht Club Resort welcomed guests back on August 28. The restaurant — one of the few Signature Dining steakhouses on Walt Disney World property — closed May 10 for refurbishment, leaving a notable gap for guests staying around Crescent Lake during the summer.
The reopening brought two new entrées. On the high end, a 10-oz American Wagyu New York Strip arrives with a loaded baked potato and brandy-peppercorn sauce for $83. It joins the existing 12-oz Prime New York Strip on the menu, with the Wagyu offering a smaller cut at a premium price using a similar preparation — a deliberate choice that lets the quality of the beef speak for itself. On the more accessible side, a Black Garlic Fettuccine made with house-made pasta, seared baby squash, heirloom cherry tomatoes, mushroom conserva, and a creamy black garlic sauce comes in at $38 — a contemporary dish that gives non-steak diners a genuine reason to be at the table.
The physical refresh appears to have been a polish rather than a reinvention. The familiar knotty-pine beams, nautical details, open kitchen, and visible dry-aging room are all intact. One small but welcome improvement: the accessible entry ramp is now carpeted, a practical upgrade for guests using wheelchairs or scooters and for anyone navigating a slick Florida rain.
A few things worth knowing before booking: Yachtsman serves dinner only, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and carries a dress code consistent with Signature Dining standards. Reservations are strongly recommended — walk-up availability on a reopening weekend is a long shot. The restaurant counts as two Table-Service credits per person for guests on the Disney Dining Plan, and standard late-cancellation fees apply.
