July 31, 2026 marks the final day on the job for Jeff Vahle, who is stepping down as President of Walt Disney World Resort after 36 years with the Walt Disney Company. Stepping into the role on August 3, 2026 is Joe Schott, one of Disney's most seasoned international operators with more than 40 years of leadership experience. Schott most recently served as President of Disney Signature Experiences, overseeing the launches of the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure cruise ships. Before that, he spent 15 of 18 years working internationally, including six years as President and General Manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, where he guided the park through its Zootopia land expansion and past the 100-million-guest milestone. Schott actually began his Disney career as a Jungle Cruise skipper at Magic Kingdom.
Vahle's departure completes a broader wave of leadership changes at Disney Parks & Resorts that began when Josh D'Amaro was elevated to Disney CEO earlier this year. Thomas Mazloum now leads Parks & Resorts, with Jill Estorino heading Disneyland Resort, Tasia Filippatos overseeing Disney Parks International, and Natacha Rafalski taking on Disney Signature Experiences, among other appointments.
