Walt Disney World has a confirmed start date for its next president: Joe Schott will officially take over leadership of the resort on August 6, 2026.
Schott steps into the role as successor to Jeff Vahle, who has led the Orlando resort through a period of significant change. The transition comes at a pivotal moment for Disney's Florida flagship, which is currently in the midst of one of its most ambitious expansion phases in recent memory.
Major development projects are either underway or in the pipeline across three of the resort's four theme parks — Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom — giving the incoming president a full slate of high-profile initiatives to shepherd from the outset.
The August handover gives Schott a chance to get oriented ahead of the busy fall and holiday seasons, traditionally among the most heavily attended periods at Walt Disney World.
