Walt Disney World is channeling $30 million into upgrades at two of its most popular resort properties, with work already underway and the biggest changes expected to arrive in late 2026. The investment targets Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's BoardWalk, two spots that have long been destinations in their own right beyond the theme parks.
The bulk of the budget — $24.4 million — is earmarked for Animal Kingdom Lodge. According to permit records filed with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, both Jambo House and the Disney Vacation Club property Kidani Village are receiving interior renovations. The work involves removing and replacing finishes and fixtures throughout the guest rooms, with the goal of modernizing bathrooms, lighting, and in-room technology while preserving the resort's signature African-inspired aesthetic. Guests visiting in the near term may encounter localized construction as rooms are refreshed in phases.
The remaining $6.2 million is going toward a brand-new venue on the BoardWalk called Hurly-Burly, a dual-concept waterfront lounge planned for the Crescent Lake corridor between EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. During the day, the space will offer family-friendly programming led by a dedicated host, including interactive trivia and entertainment for all ages. After dark, it shifts to a 21-and-older live music lounge serving coastal-inspired cocktails and light bites. Permit filings show the project involves full demolition of the existing space and construction of new walls, floors, ceilings, kitchen equipment, and bar facilities, along with window and door modifications designed to highlight the waterfront setting.
Disney framed the spending as part of a broader effort to keep guests on property and deepen the appeal of its resort hotels. A Walt Disney World spokesperson told the Orlando Business Journal that the investments reflect the company's commitment to creating new reasons to visit Central Florida both now and in the years ahead.
