Walt Disney World guests heading to Magic Kingdom via the Transportation and Ticket Center on July 21 were treated to an unexpected artistic surprise: a highly detailed chalk portrait of Walt Disney himself, rendered right on the sidewalk near the ferryboat launch.
An artist was spotted putting the finishing touches on the piece, which depicted Walt mid-laugh with an expression full of warmth. To nail the likeness, the artist worked from a reference photo of Walt throughout the process.
Chalk art at Walt Disney World is most commonly associated with the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, making this impromptu appearance at the TTC a rare and delightful find for passersby.
The work was nearly complete when spotted, and guests visiting the area on July 21 or 22 may still be able to catch it — though, as with all chalk art, the piece will disappear with the next rain.
