Construction crews have removed part of the themed rockwork along the waterfront exterior of Mythos Restaurant at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure, a visible change ahead of the restaurant’s planned permanent closure in 2027.

Mythos remains open and serving guests. Universal has not announced its final operating date, but the company said in May 2026 that Lost Continent venues would close in phases to make way for a new themed area. Universal has not yet revealed the theme of that land.

The latest work has exposed framework behind a section of the restaurant’s rear rockwork. A floating yellow barrier is now in the lagoon near the building, and a construction wall blocks the guest path behind it, according to an Oct. 25 report from Attractions Magazine.

Mythos opened with Islands of Adventure in 1999 and is known for its cavernous dining room, waterfalls, sculpted rock formations and mythology-inspired setting. It has remained through major changes to the surrounding Lost Continent, including the incorporation of portions of the area into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Poseidon’s Fury closed in 2023, while the former attraction and The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater have since been demolished.

Elsewhere at Islands of Adventure, Thunder Falls Terrace near Jurassic Park River Adventure closed in July 2026 for conversion into a new full-service restaurant. That venue is expected to open in 2027 as the park’s signature dining location.
