UniMart, the Japanese-style convenience store that recently opened inside Mills Market, plans to open a second Central Florida location in Winter Park this December.

The new store is slated for the Center of Winter Park plaza at 501 N. Orlando Ave., Suite 227. It will sit next to Light on the Sugar and two doors from Bento Asian Kitchen, both businesses connected to restaurateurs Johnny and Jimmy Tung.

At 1,000 square feet, the Winter Park UniMart will be larger than the Mills Market location. Along with fried chicken, bento boxes, freshly prepared sushi, Japanese snacks and other grab-and-go items, the store is expected to carry matcha, soft serve, fresh produce with an emphasis on Japanese fruit, omiyage gifts and souvenirs.

Orlando Weekly reported that shoppers can expect premium fruit such as Nashi sand pears, Ibaraki strawberries and Crown melons. The concept comes from chef William Shen of Sorekara, along with the Tung brothers.

Johnny Tung told Orlando Weekly that further UniMart locations are being considered in areas including UCF, Lake Nona, Winter Garden, Baldwin Park, Park Avenue, Disney Springs and Audubon Park.
