Construction is moving at a steady clip at Disney's Animal Kingdom, where the former DinoLand U.S.A. is steadily becoming Tropical Americas — a new land centered on a fictional Latin American village called Pueblo Esperanza. The land is expected to open in 2027.
The latest progress includes freshly cut lumber forming roof trusses on a building positioned in front of the land's carousel. According to observers on-site, the wood is so new its scent carries beyond the construction walls. Angled beams extending from the structure's sides are already sketching out the lower roof sections. Nearby, El Carrusel de los Animalitos has its large circular canopy exposed, supported by dark wooden beams converging at a raised central point. The finished carousel will feature hand-carved animal figures inspired by Disney films.
Progress is also visible on Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, a new attraction based on the film Encanto. A network of white steel beams is forming what is likely the structural backbone of the Casita façade. Disney has confirmed the ride will take place on the day Antonio receives his gift of communicating with animals, with guests traveling through the house and into his rainforest bedroom in ride vehicles while furniture comes to life around them. The decorative Casita front will conceal a much larger show building behind it.
Elsewhere on the site, new rockwork has appeared near a side entrance to the land. Scaffolding surrounds the freshly sculpted pieces as crews continue refining their surfaces. Roofing work is also underway on several existing buildings being folded into Pueblo Esperanza's overall design.
