Three Florida Treasure Coast counties recorded a notably stronger loggerhead sea turtle nesting season this year, according to TCPalm.
The region logged 7,311 more loggerhead nests than it did last year. The increase marks a banner season for the threatened sea turtles along this stretch of Florida’s Atlantic coast.
Loggerheads are among the sea turtle species that nest on Florida beaches, making seasonal nest counts an important measure of activity along the shoreline.
