If you're visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios this summer, don't be surprised to see the Hollywood Tower Hotel looking a little under wraps. As of late July 2026, scaffolding has gone up along a large portion of the upper-right side of the Tower of Terror building, while construction scrims are covering columns throughout the pre-lobby queue area and sections of the lower facade.
The good news for thrill-seekers: none of this work affects your ability to ride. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is operating on its normal schedule, with no queue closures or interruptions to availability. Guests will simply navigate past some construction materials on their way into the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
This kind of exterior upkeep is fairly routine for the iconic attraction, which has been a Hollywood Studios anchor since 1994. The aging facade regularly needs maintenance to keep the crumbling, haunted-hotel illusion looking its best — or, more accurately, its most convincingly decrepit. Disney does not typically announce these projects ahead of time.
Details on how much more of the building will be wrapped in scaffolding, and when the full project is expected to wrap up, have not been released. Visitors planning to photograph the landmark this summer should expect the work to remain visible for the foreseeable future.
