Thunder Falls Terrace, the beloved rotisserie chicken spot nestled in the Jurassic Park section of Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure, has permanently closed its doors. According to reports, the restaurant welcomed its final guests on July 19, and its page has since been removed from Universal's website entirely.
The closure is part of a broader transformation sweeping the Jurassic Park area. Universal announced back in May that Thunder Falls Terrace would shut down and be reimagined as an all-new, full-service dining concept — set to become the park's signature sit-down restaurant in Islands of Adventure when it reopens in 2027. A specific opening date has not yet been announced.
The refurbishment extends well beyond the restaurant. Construction walls line the area, many of them decorated with dinosaurs and Jurassic Park branding. The Jurassic Park River Adventure is also undergoing work, with the ride's water completely drained and scaffolding visible throughout. Even some of the dinosaur animatronics are mid-restoration.
For longtime visitors, Thunder Falls Terrace held a special place — it offered a cool air-conditioned retreat and a front-row view of riders plunging down the River Adventure's final drop. Whatever replaces it will have big shoes to fill.
