If you've ridden Slinky Dog Dash lately at Disney's Hollywood Studios, you may have noticed that the "Big Finale" sign near the end of the coaster has seen better days. The sign, positioned in the brake zone toward the ride's conclusion, is visibly cracked across the top and shows significant sun damage and discoloration throughout.
The sign is designed to look like a hand-lettered cardboard creation — the kind a child might make for a backyard toy display — so a little roughness might seem fitting. But the deterioration has progressed to the point where the words "the big finale!" are difficult to read, a far cry from its condition when the ride debuted in 2018.
Side-by-side comparisons with photos from opening year show just how much the Florida sun and years of daily operation have taken a toll on the prop. It's the kind of maintenance detail that dedicated Disney fans tend to notice and track closely.
There's been no announcement from Disney about plans to repair or replace the sign. WDW News Today first reported and photographed the sign's current condition.
