Residents, families and staff at Osprey Village on Amelia Island are gathering Friday, Oct. 9, for the retirement community’s annual walk benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association.

The event begins at 9:30 a.m. at 76 Osprey Village Drive, with the one-mile walk around the community scheduled to start at 10 a.m. About 50 residents, relatives and supporters are expected to take part. The public is also welcome.

Proceeds will support the Alzheimer’s Association’s care, support and research efforts. The walk was started by Diane Duffy, Osprey Village’s Life Enrichment Leader and a top fundraiser for the Jacksonville Walk to End Alzheimer’s, who has lost a loved one to the disease.

For residents who are unable to join larger Walk to End Alzheimer’s events, the community-based gathering offers a local way to participate and honor people affected by Alzheimer’s.
