Guests staying at Disney's Old Key West Resort will need to find an alternate route to Disney Springs this summer. The Sassagoula River Cruise boat service connecting the two destinations went offline for refurbishment on July 20th and is expected to remain closed through early August.
Signage posted at the Disney Springs boat dock confirms the temporary closure. Boat routes serving Saratoga Springs, Port Orleans — Riverside, and Port Orleans — French Quarter remain available, weather permitting, so the gap is specific to Old Key West for now.
Travelers looking to make the trip between Old Key West and Disney Springs during the closure can hop on a bus from the main bus depot near the Orange Garage and Coca-Cola store. Worth noting: Disney recently updated its policy so that guests must show proof of a resort or dining reservation to board both the boats and the buses at Disney Springs.
The boat dock isn't the only thing under wraps at the resort right now. The Hospitality House is undergoing exterior work and the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is also seeing some updates, so guests should expect daytime construction noise and activity throughout their stay.
