Hollywood Studios is getting a brand-new theatrical experience when Monstropolis opens in 2027, and Disney has shared a detailed look at what guests can expect. The new show, titled "Welcome to Monstropolis," will take over the Glob Theater — the same building that housed Muppet Vision 3D for decades — and will be hosted by everyone's favorite monster duo, Mike and Sulley.

According to Chris Beatty, Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering, Sulley has put together a heartfelt homespun production, but Mike — true to character — has bigger ambitions and a few surprises in store. The show will also debut a brand-new original song called "Welcome to Monstropolis," composed by Randy Newman. It marks the first time Newman has written a song specifically for a Disney park.

Concept art reveals a stage packed with beloved characters beyond just the two leads. Members of the Oozma Kappa fraternity from Monsters University — including Don Carlton, Art, and Terri & Terry — appear alongside agents from the Child Detection Agency. The theater's side boxes, once home to Statler, Waldorf, and Bean Bunny in the Muppets show, have been reimagined as screens displaying live stage footage, hinting at a "broadcast" storyline woven into the plot. A monster band and a roving camera crew also appear in the art, supporting that idea.

The broader Monstropolis land — which will also feature the iconic Harryhausen's restaurant — is slated to open in 2027, with most elements ready at launch. The Door Coaster attraction will follow at a later date. Disney has not yet announced a specific opening day for the land or the show.
