Fans of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Walt Disney World have noticed a quiet but satisfying change inside Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The doors leading into Hondo Ohnaka's preshow room — which had been stuck open for years — are finally operating the way they were designed to when the land first opened.
When Galaxy's Edge debuted, those doors would remain closed until Disney was ready for the next group of guests. Visitors would approach, wait, and then watch the doors swing open before closing again behind them. That sequence vanished not long after the attraction's early days, leaving the doors permanently open and removing one of the original storytelling touches from the experience.
The restoration matters because Smugglers Run is built around layered immersion — the story begins well before guests ever sit down in the Millennium Falcon cockpit. Having the doors close behind each group gives Hondo's preshow room a more distinct, contained feel, reinforcing the sense that guests are being pulled into something secretive.
The timing coincides with a much larger overhaul of the attraction. Disney introduced a new adventure in May featuring Din Djarin and Grogu, updated Hondo's storyline so he is now stealing rather than borrowing the Falcon from Chewbacca, and added three possible mission destinations — Bespin, Coruscant, and the wreckage of the second Death Star above Endor — randomly selected to give repeat riders more variety.
