Magic Kingdom's long-awaited Villains Land is shaping up to be one of Walt Disney World's most ambitious expansions ever — but guests hoping to visit anytime soon may need to settle in for a longer wait. While Disney has not announced any delay, the scale of construction already underway across the resort and the pace of current infrastructure work suggest the new land could be several years away from welcoming its first visitors.
What Disney has officially confirmed is genuinely exciting: Villains Land will feature two major attractions, themed dining, shopping, and immersive environments built around the studio's iconic villains. The land will draw on an Art Nouveau-inspired aesthetic, with early concept art showcasing towering structures and dramatic scenery unlike anything else currently inside Magic Kingdom. Unconfirmed reports have also pointed to a Hades-themed restaurant and a roller coaster featuring Yzma and Kronk from The Emperor's New Groove, though Disney has yet to verify those specifics.
The clearest public clues about timing come from permit filings, some of which extend into late 2029, leading many observers to estimate an opening around 2029 or 2030. That said, permit timelines are imperfect predictors — Disney has let permits on other projects expire and refile as plans evolved, so no firm conclusions can be drawn from them alone.
Villains Land is also competing for resources and attention alongside several other major Walt Disney World projects in progress simultaneously.
