Magic Kingdom Access Tighter in September — Here's What to Know

September brings some scheduling complexity to Magic Kingdom, as Walt Disney World dedicates 13 nights that month to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party — a separately ticketed event that closes the park to day guests at 6 p.m. The party dates this September are the 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, 25th, 27th, and 29th, with another 16 events continuing through October and wrapping up on Halloween night.

On party nights, the usual Disney Starlight Parade and Happily Ever After fireworks show are off the table for regular ticketholders. Instead, those evenings are reserved for party guests who get Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade and the Not-So-Spooky Halloween Spectacular at Cinderella Castle. Guests without party tickets are encouraged to visit EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs on those evenings.

To soften the impact, Disney is adjusting its operating hours on both party and non-party days throughout September, much as it did in August. On Friday, September 11 — a party date — Magic Kingdom opens at 8 a.m., with Early Entry beginning at 7:30 a.m. for eligible guests, stretching out the usable day before the 6 p.m. cutoff. The following day, Saturday the 12th, is not a party night, and Disney has extended closing time from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., giving guests nearly 16 hours in the park that day.

The tighter-access pattern won't end when Halloween does. Disney has already confirmed that Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party kicks off on November 8, 2026, bringing a similar early-closure dynamic to the holiday season. On the attendance front, Disney Experiences CEO Josh D'Amaro noted a slight uptick in domestic park visits during the most recent quarterly earnings call, even as overall attendance remained softer than expected — with revenue growth driven largely by higher ticket prices, Lightning Lane passes, and hotel rates.
