If you haven't walked through Frontierland at Magic Kingdom lately, brace yourself — the land is in the middle of one of the most sweeping makeovers in Walt Disney World history. The latest adjustment is a modest one: the DVC Member Lounge known as McKim's Mile House has shifted its daily hours to 10 a.m.–7 p.m., moving the entire window one hour earlier than its previous 11 a.m.–8 p.m. schedule. Eligible Disney Vacation Club members and their guests can drop in for seating, complimentary soft drinks, Wi-Fi, and charging cords on request, with Member Services Advisors on hand as well.

That small operational tweak is easy to overlook given everything else happening around it. Splash Mountain permanently closed in 2023 and was reimagined as Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which debuted in 2024. Country Bear Jamboree was reworked into Country Bear Musical Jamboree, keeping the beloved bears while swapping in a production built around reinterpreted Disney songs. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad went offline in January 2025 for a lengthy refurbishment, reopening in May 2026 with refreshed elements and updated storytelling.

The bigger shock came in July 2025, when Disney permanently closed the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat — three experiences that had anchored this corner of the park for decades. The cleared land is now the future home of Piston Peak National Park, an original themed area inspired by Pixar's Cars. Disney is planning two new attractions there: an off-road adventure through rugged terrain and a second, more family-friendly experience. New mountains, trees, and waterways will replace the river views guests knew for generations.

Beyond Piston Peak, Disney has also confirmed Villains Land is coming to the area just past Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. That expansion will bring two major attractions plus dining and shopping, eventually pushing Magic Kingdom's footprint further than it has ever extended and turning Frontierland into a key gateway to entirely new experiences.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure, the refreshed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and McKim's Mile House are all operating now, so the transformation is well underway — but with Piston Peak and Villains Land still under development, Frontierland's most dramatic changes are still ahead. Disney Fanatic first reported the McKim's Mile House hours update and compiled the full scope of ongoing Frontierland changes.
