If you've swung by the Canada pavilion at EPCOT lately, you may have noticed something a little off about La Poutinerie's eye-catching new sign. The split flap display — that retro, airport-departure-board-style feature — has reportedly stopped working properly less than a week after the restaurant opened.
Split flap signs are beloved for their satisfying clickety-clack motion and vintage charm, making them a popular design choice for dining and retail spaces aiming for a nostalgic feel. La Poutinerie leaned into that aesthetic as part of its debut at the World Showcase, but the mechanism appears to have hit an early snag.
It's worth noting that these types of mechanical displays can be finicky, and a fix may well be in the works. Still, for guests making a special trip to catch the full La Poutinerie experience, the sign is currently more of a conversation piece than a functioning feature.
