Guests staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village will want to plan their souvenir shopping around a brief gap this August. Johari Treasures, the resort's gift shop near the Kidani Village lobby, will be closed from August 17 through August 28, reopening on August 29.
Disney has not shared a reason for the temporary closure, and it remains unclear whether merchandise will be available at an alternate location during that time. The shop normally operates from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Johari Treasures — whose name means "gem" in Swahili — carries a distinctive mix of authentic African crafts and clothing alongside traditional Disney merchandise, giving it a character that sets it apart from most Walt Disney World resort shops.
Guests with stays overlapping the closure dates may want to pick up any desired items before August 17 or wait until the shop reopens on the 29th. WDW News Today first reported the planned closure.
