Jeff Vahle wrapped up a 36-year Disney career on July 31, 2026, stepping down as president of Walt Disney World Resort. He first joined the company as an engineer at Magic Kingdom and rose through a series of major leadership roles spanning parks and operations on multiple continents.
Over the decades, Vahle's responsibilities touched nearly every corner of the Disney theme-park universe — from guiding Disney California Adventure and Hong Kong Disneyland to helping develop Shanghai Disney Resort. He was appointed Walt Disney World president in 2020, a role that put him at the helm of four theme parks, more than 25 resort hotels, two water parks, a sports complex, and Disney Springs, all supported by a workforce of roughly 80,000 cast members.
In a farewell message shared on Instagram, Vahle reflected on milestones including the opening of Disney's Animal Kingdom, the growth of Disney Cruise Line, and the construction of Shanghai Disney Resort. He wrote that what he'll remember most, beyond those big moments, are the cast members, guests, and Central Florida community members who made his days there meaningful.
Joe Schott steps into the president role on August 3. Schott's own Disney story began at Magic Kingdom — as a Jungle Cruise Skipper — and spans 40 years. Most recently he served as president of Disney Signature Experiences, where he oversaw the debut of the cruise ships Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure.
