Hurly-Burly, the new jazz club and lounge at Disney’s BoardWalk, has opened with a backstory rooted in a fictional seaside vaudeville theater.
According to Walt Disney Imagineering, the Hurly-Burly Theatre was once home to BoardWalk variety performers, led by resident headliner Polly Delmar and ocean-themed acts. The venue’s story holds that performers left costumes, props and other belongings behind when the theater closed, awaiting its eventual return nearly a century later.
That narrative shapes the new space, which replaced the former JellyRolls piano bar. Imagineering said guests can spot props associated with Delmar’s career, including Pearl the puppet, plus her framed necklace and gloves near the bar. A hallway includes bulletin boards with audition notices, Delmar’s notes, a theater sign-in sheet and advertisements for other BoardWalk businesses.
The design also leans into the waterfront setting through wave-like exterior details, seashells, nautical visuals, a ship’s wheel and pearl-shaped light fixtures. On the walls, the venue’s staged history unfolds in chronological order with items including a “Vaudeville by the Sea” moon, a Polly Delmar sign and signage for “The Illustrious Pearl.”

The name Hurly-Burly means a tumultuous uproar, a reference to the commotion of an audience breaking into applause, Imagineering said. The lounge offers entertainment, vintage-inspired drinks and light bites, and is open daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
JellyRolls closed in spring 2025 after nearly 30 years at Disney’s BoardWalk.
