Work continues on a building adjacent to The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, and the structure is starting to look a lot more polished. Crews have recently added yellow exterior paneling and white window shutters to what was previously just plywood and sheathing over a steel framework.
The building, identifiable by its tower with a sloped peaked roof, previously served as overflow queue space for The Haunted Mansion before construction walls went up earlier this year. The project picked up pace after the nearby Mike Fink Keel Boats dock was demolished, when crews began extending the back of the building with a steel frame.
The new yellow planks are a noticeably different shade from the building's existing blue-gray paneling, though the color is similar to shingles found on the tower closer to the mansion's entrance. The wall facing Frontierland features three sets of white window shutters, with a fourth visible on the side facing the mansion itself.
Disney hasn't announced what the expanded building will ultimately be used for. The work is likely connected to a permit Disney filed earlier this year for the area, which named MLC Theming as the contracted company. Meanwhile, The Haunted Mansion itself remains open to guests, even as much of the exterior is still wrapped in scaffolding and scrim while restoration work continues.
