Visitors to Universal CityWalk Orlando will now have a much easier time spotting one of the resort's most historically significant artifacts. The piece of the Berlin Wall displayed at Hard Rock Cafe has been relocated from a tucked-away spot at the back of the restaurant to a prominent position between the main entrance and the patio.
The fragment was previously something of a hidden gem, requiring guests to wander down a dead-end path to find it. Its new front-and-center placement means far more visitors will encounter it naturally as they arrive.
The timing of the move may be tied to nearby construction activity related to the upcoming Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift attraction, though Universal has not issued any official statement confirming a connection.
Hard Rock Cafe has long displayed the piece because of its ties to rock royalty: Roger Waters of Pink Floyd performed in front of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1990 — the first anniversary of its demolition. The faded graffiti visible on the concrete segment appeared on the cover of the live album The Wall – Live in Berlin. The wall itself stood from August 1961 until its fall in November 1989.
