Guests staying at or visiting Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will need to make alternate dining plans for a while. The Grand Floridian Cafe closed for refurbishment on Monday, July 20, with Walt Disney World Resort's own website indicating the closure will stretch through mid-October 2026.
Construction barriers went up quickly — by July 21, brown-and-white barricades were already blocking guests' view of the restaurant entrance. Signage directed visitors to Cítricos on the second floor for brunch service, a restaurant that typically operates only for dinner. Brunch at Cítricos runs from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the refurbishment period. The neighboring 1900 Park Fare remains open and unaffected.
Sunday, July 19 was the last day guests could dine at the Grand Floridian Cafe in its current form. Disney has not announced an exact reopening date beyond the general mid-October 2026 timeframe.
The cafe closure is just one piece of a broader wave of construction activity at the Victorian-inspired resort. Work crews are currently rerouting a major roadway serving the property and performing exterior maintenance that has changed how guests access the pool. On a more positive note, the resort recently added The Perch, its first-ever lobby bar, which opened late last year inside the iconic golden birdcage that has been a feature of the hotel since its 1988 debut.
