If you're planning a September trip to Epic Universe, take note: Universal Orlando has posted its operating calendar for that month, and the hours are noticeably lean. For almost every day in September 2026, Epic Universe will run from 10 am to 8 pm — a 10-hour operating day that stands out as unusually short for a brand-new park still in its first year.
The only exceptions on the current calendar are September 23rd, when the park stays open until 9 pm, and September 29th, which has an earlier 6 pm close. Park hours for Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure in September are also inconsistent, largely because Halloween Horror Nights dominates USF's schedule during that stretch.
What makes the Epic Universe cutback particularly notable is the park's design. Celestial Park's fountains, the atmospheric lighting of Dark Universe, and the general aesthetic of the resort are all at their best after dark — and Orlando sunsets in September range from roughly 7:12 to 7:46 pm, meaning an 8 pm close leaves very little true nighttime in the park.
There's also the question of Celestial Goodnight, the new nighttime spectacular that debuted July 7th. The show features nearly 600 synchronized light fixtures, more than 350 fountains, seven million LED lights, and a fireworks finale. Universal announced it as a nightly offering with no stated end date, but a consistent 8 pm park close creates obvious logistical questions about whether — and when — the show runs during off-season months.
