The entrance plaza at EPCOT has a refreshed look this summer, with newly planted Sylvester palms now standing on either side of Spaceship Earth. The planting marks a landscaping update that was needed after the previous foxtail palms suffered cold damage.
Sylvester palms, known for their sturdy, textured trunks and feathery fronds, are a hardier choice for Central Florida's occasional cold snaps compared to the tropical foxtail palms they replace. The change gives the iconic geodesic sphere a slightly different silhouette as guests enter the park.
Eight photos documenting the new plantings were captured at EPCOT in late July 2026, offering a close look at how the trees are settling into the plaza landscape around the park's signature landmark.
WDWMAGIC reported on and photographed the landscaping refresh.
