Disney is pulling back the curtain on its creative process with Disney Worldbuilders, a feature-length documentary arriving on Disney+ in August 2026. Directed by Academy Award- and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Leslie Iwerks, the film explores how Disney's most beloved stories — from Marvel and Star Wars to Zootopia — make the leap from the screen into fully immersive, real-world theme park experiences.
The documentary features an impressive roster of storytellers and company leaders, including Bob Iger, Josh D'Amaro (CEO of The Walt Disney Company), Academy Award-winning Frozen director Jennifer Lee, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Pixar's Pete Docter, and Lucasfilm's Dave Filoni, among others. James Cameron and Jon Favreau, both Disney Legends, also appear in the film.
Beyond celebrating decades of Disney creativity, Disney Worldbuilders offers a forward-looking perspective — including rare glimpses of new lands, attractions, and experiences currently in development across Disney's parks worldwide.
Before the film lands on Disney+, fans attending D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, will get the first look. A special panel presentation on August 16, 2026 will feature several of the film's subjects before a debut screening takes place at the convention.
