Guests staying at Disney World's Yacht and Beach Club resorts who were counting on hopping a FriendShip Boat to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios will need to make alternate plans a little longer. The boat dock closed for maintenance on August 18th, but when the scheduled reopening date arrived, the dock remained firmly off-limits.

The reason for the delay: construction crews discovered more damage than they initially anticipated once work was underway. Visible evidence of the scope of the repairs includes the removal of the dock's top wooden planks, with the structural beams beneath covered in plywood. A Cast Member on site confirmed the dock will remain under construction for at least another week, though Disney's official website was still listing the dock as open with no adjusted reopening date posted at the time of the report.

The good news is that getting to both parks from Yacht and Beach Club stays very manageable. EPCOT is just a five-minute walk from the resorts, and Hollywood Studios is reachable by complimentary bus, the Disney Skyliner, or a roughly half-hour walking path along the water.
